Project Overview

The proposed new settlement will be the main focus of strategic development for the combined Worcestershire authorities. It extends to approximately 1,130 hectares and is bound by the M5, A44, the Cotswold and Malvern Line, the north-east to south-west main railway lines and the village of Stoulton to the east.

The Council’s vision for the development of Worcestershire Parkway is for the new settlement to be landscape-led and formed on ‘garden settlement’ principles. The development of the new settlement is to be predicated upon a ‘20-minute’ neighbourhood principle – this relating to the accessibility of the new town centre and its facilities for all residents.

The Gateway landholding is located within the southern part of the new settlement and comprises 111 hectares of land which could deliver:

  • Up to 1,000 residential dwellings, with a mix of types and tenures
  • 40% Green Infrastructure of
    various typologies
  • A 38-hectare utility scale solar PV plant to help deliver the Council’s target of 50% renewable energy generation within the new settlement. This would deliver power to between 4,500 and
    5,500 dwellings
  • A new link road connecting the B4084 to the south of Stoulton and facilitating highway access to the wider southern neighbourhood area
  • A new bus loop service, utilising the new link road, to connect the southern neighbourhood with the wider settlement, including employment opportunities and the town centre.
